THIS WEEK’S TOPIC: Costello – Be our voice in Congress to call for a 9/11 Style Independent Commission to Investigate & Recommend/Develop solutions to the Russian Cyber (information) Attack
A Special Counsel is not enough. It does not explicitly focus federal resources on a serious and on-going issue: cyber warfare using weaponized information deployment. Russia has a powerful lead in this technology but other malevolent actors could employ similar. We need to figure out our best approach to defend ourselves.
The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, also known as the 9/11 Commission, was set up on November 27, 2002, “to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11 attacks”, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The commission was also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.
We need a 9/11 Style Independent (Non-Partisan) Commission to Investigate & Develop/Recommend solutions to defend against Russian (and other potential malevolent actors) in deploying weaponized information to manipulate the American citizens for their own interests.
