On January 1st, block Donald Trump on twitter. What better way to start the new year?

Twitter is not a form of governance.

Donald Trump’s tweets do nothing but shock and distract. Even worse, they serve as entertainment.

Trump operates as advertisers do: the content itself doesn’t matter, and as long as you’re paying attention to the bells and whistles, the objective has been met. As long as he controls our attention, he has power over us.

We, individually and collectively, have the ability to take that power away from him and put our energy to better uses.

It is entirely possible to stay up to date on current politics and legislation being proposed and passed without letting a racist old man tell you when to jump and react via twitter.com

(When you block someone on twitter, you still have the ability to look at their posts if you want – but they will not appear in your feed, and the person you’ve blocked cannot see anything you post)
