Please join us to welcome Amer Sajed, who will be discussing immigration and voting rights.

Amer Sajed, a 56-year-old Pakistan-born immigrant who moved to the U.S. to attend college, stepped down from his role Barclay International in July 2017 to begin working with the American Civil Liberties Union and other grassroots community organizations after being spurred into action by the acrimonious political climate under President Donald Trump, according to two people familiar with his thinking.

Mr. Amer Sajed served as the Chief Executive Officer of Barclaycard International at Barclays PLC until July 2017. Mr. Sajed served as an Interim Chief Executive Officer of Barclaycard at Barclays Bank Delaware and Barclays PLC since May 2015. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer for Barclaycard, Mr. Sajed served as the Chief Executive Officer for Barclaycard US, the payments arm of Barclays in the United States. During his five years leading the US business it doubled in size to rank as one of the top ten credit card companies locally. Mr. Sajed joined Barclaycard in August of 2006. Before assuming the US post, he was Chief Executive Officer for UK Cards. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. Sajed also oversaw Barclays’ South African cards issuing and acquiring businesses. Before coming to Barclaycard, Mr. Sajed worked at Citigroup for 20 years in various roles – most recently overseeing the travel and affluent segment. Previously, he served in senior finance roles. Mr. Sajed served on the Board of Visa Europe from July 2015 to June 2016
